Our Story

Hi there! My name is Liz, the owner and founder of Sincerely Meraki. The food industry is all I've ever known thanks to my grandmother. She was how I discovered my love for cooking at the young age of five and since then, my heart has been set on a culinary career with a dream of opening up my own establishment. Throughout my career, I was fortunate to have worked alongside michelin star chefs, be an executive chef, recipe developer, culinary operations consultant, food stylist, line cook, etc. at some notable food publications, restaurants, and tech companies.

Come July 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic, I finally decided to bite the bullet and pursue my dream. Ironically, I pivoted from the culinary scene to the baking world–specifically cake decorating. Sincerely Meraki officially launched on May 10, 2021 with the motto I coined, “luxury you can taste”. The goal is to create beautifully designed cakes that taste as good as they look using western and Asian influences. I want Sincerely Meraki to be the exception and be a one stop shop where neither taste nor design is sacrificed at the expense of it being a decorated cake. Clients will receive high quality cakes in both taste and design at Sincerely Meraki. To achieve this, we source fresh, high quality ingredients, offer elevated and refined versions of crowd pleasing cake flavors, and produce high end, luxe, pristine design from the years of mastering our craft in the art of buttercream cakes. We are a shop solely specializing in the art of buttercream cakes.

The foundation of what makes Sincerely Meraki unique started from when I would make cakes for family gatherings. I noticed that the western-style buttercream cakes I made were not well received. They were just too sweet, dense, and rich for the family’s liking. So, to better suit my family’s palate, I began to make Asian style cakes (light/not too sweet/whipped cream based) but still decorated with buttercream since I find that the application and finish of buttercream is better for decorating than whipped cream. Because there was no cake bakery that combined asian style cakes with modern buttercream design, I brought this idea over to Sincerely Meraki and from there, worked on creating a cake that harmoniously embodies both Asian style and western style cakes to bring the best of both worlds together.

Personally, there’s nothing like the feeling of our cakes being celebrated in a convivial setting—enjoyed and appreciated by many. I hope our cakes showcase the years it took to master our skill set, embody the love that we have for the craft, and express the care that we have for each person that takes a bite. Thanks for visiting our website and we look forward to serving you!

Sincerely,

Liz
